Benefits of membership are gained from the interrelationship of the national, state, local and specialty associations and the united efforts they make to improve and protect medicine. These organizations work singly and jointly to protect all of us from the inroads of inappropriate legislation, from the non-physician medical practitioners who constantly strive to increase the scope of their practice, from the misguided media, and from those who, regardless of motivation, unwittingly work to destroy our profession.
